Last week I took the boys to the Doctor for their overdue well checks. Both are in great shape- Asher remains in the 95 % and Collin in the 55%. Then the time came for shots. (We are following a revised schedule where immunizations are spread out over a longer period of time so they only get 1 or 2/visit, not 8 & elminating some altogher. I feel quite strongly about it, but that's another post for another day.)
I debated about who should go first...who would be easier to calm down quickly so that I could hold the next child? I decided we would start with Asher. He usually does really well with shots. He got two in his thigh. He didn't cry for the first and only a bit for the second. Such a brave boy....but he was upset and needed some pacis and a "gee-gee" (blanket) to calm down. Then it was Collin's turn. He let out a heart-breaking, helpless little cry with the first shot. As they were doing the second (and Collin was sobbing) Asher comes running over CRYING, "baby! baby!". He didn't want his little brother to be hurt like he had been. I thought it was so sweet.
In the end, Collin was pretty happy soon after his shoots. Asher had blood work done to check red blood cells & lead. He is quite the bleeder- I had to go home and treat his shirt, sweater AND my shirt. I have such sweet, brave boys. I am one lucky mama.

Asher is such a cute brother! He sure loves his brother. We cut Drew's hair today and he cried loudly for much of it. Erik and Lily were soon knocking on the door; they had come to rescue him. Lily wanted us to stop because he didn't like it. We had to explain that he wasn't hurt. Kids sure are funny. If they were so concerned, why do they always fight with each other??
ah so protective of his brother. Love it.
