Today, our little Eden is 4 weeks old! Up to this point, I have been blessed to have help (nearly) most of that time. Grandparents, Aunts & Uncles, friends & church members have all chipped in and come to the aid of our not-so-little family by playing with the boys, bringing in meals, cleaning or holding a fussy Eden so that I could rest. My parents even came for an entire week to be with me while Nate was at Powell. My words won't adequately express how grateful I am to all our helpers- they have truly been heaven-sent.
As much as I love my babies, the newborn phase is not my favorite. That makes me sad, in a way. I wish it were a favorite, but breastfeeding woes, colic-y babies & little sleep make that difficult. While Eden isn't the fussiest baby I've had, yet again I find myself battling thrush and sensitivities in her diet that upset her digestive tract. That means no dairy & no sugar for me- 2 of my vices!
I know I will never be busier than I am right now. I know that within 8 weeks things will be significantly better. The hours sometimes pass too slowly, but the days are racing by...I'm doing my best to pause & enjoy the beauty within the chaos. Easier to do if my babies have slept well the night before. :) I'm grateful for a husband who understands & appreciates the work I am trying to accomplish as a mother. I'm grateful for his willingness to help in the middle of the night or listen to me cry and talk-out my nursing struggles. I am especially grateful for his never-ending optimism. Thank you, Natey. And thank you for my 4 beautiful babies. They are pretty much the cutest!
