shots

Does this look like a child who just got two shots five minutes earlier?

After doing a lot of research, I am following an alternative schedule for his immunizations and so at nearly 7 months old, Asher received his first shots (IPV and Hib). I was prepared for lots of crying from us both. Fortunately, that never happened. I'm sure Asher is an annamolie like his Aunt Bri when it comes to shots. I am also sure that I will have my fair share of shot-induced crying from future children. For now, I am countin' my blessings!
*Oh yeah, Asher now weighs over 20 lbs. My days of carrying him in his car seat are numbered.

6.5 month pics

Here are some poorly taken pictures (of pictures) of Asher's photo shoot. He totally worked the camera! He was happy and cute the entire time- much to my relief. :)

the Latest

Last week I took Asher to the doctor for his 6 month visit and was quite impressed with his stats! He weighs 19 lbs and is 27'' long. Dr. Jackson said he was a very well proportioned baby- 75 percentile for weight, height, and head circumference. He is flying through clothes...last month we started 9 month stuff, and just the other night we put him in a pair of 12 month pj's. Craziness! Asher and I are helping Daddy in his weight loss efforts too. (They are having a Biggest Loser contest at work. Oh yeah- Nate started a new job a couple weeks ago and already it has been a huge blessing.) Here are the boys munching on some veggies:What else...um...I bought a sewing machine last night. I have always wanted to learn how to sew, one reason being so that I can make cute clothes/costumes for our kiddos. Or check these out- they are basically white burp cloths with cool fabric sewn down the middle. Cute!

funny but gross

So Asher's walker has given both of us freedom. For him, it's freedom to get into all kinds of things that Mommy doesn't want him to. ie: the trash, cords, important papers, neatly folded laundry, etc. (Baby proofing is a work in progress...all of those things are now safely out of his reach.) But please tell me- how on earth do I prevent the following...

Yesterday I was busily cleaning the downstairs. Asher was in his walker playing. I happened to look over and see that he was happily splashing his feet in a puddle on the tile. "Hmmm," I thought. "Where did he get water from?" And then it dawned on me. That ain't no water. I ran over, smelled it, and sure enough- my son was playing in his own urine. Lovely. I hate Pampers Cruisers.
