Not only is it quick and easy to make healthful, yummy purees, it's also a heck of a lot cheaper than buying pre-made baby food. Last week I made butternut squash and peas. This week I've tackled carrots. Sweet potatoes and apples are next! You wouldn't believe how VIBRANT the colors are from the homemade stuff. I've been storing the purees in labeled freezer bags but am searching for something like baby food cubes that are BPA-free. Wow. I sound like such a hippie. :)Tuesday, July 8, 2008
puree-ing
I am officially a puree-nut. Ever since Asher started eating those expensive little jars of organic baby food, I have been on a mission to make my own. It was around this same time that I bought and fell in LOVE with the cookbook by Jessica Seinfeld- Deceptively Delicious, which uses veggie purees in the recipes.

Look at you little homemaker. I actually have 2 of those cookbooks and have yet to even open one! I guess I am a sucker for the ease of throwing the organic stuff in the cart...:)
I bought that book and it all started out really well, then I started other projects and my cooking has been on hold for quite some time, maybe when this next baby comes I'll get back into it. It really is a great book though, I'll call you next week, I'm going home to Utah and I can get the number of the blanket lady for you.
I have that cook book and LOVe it!!!! It is so great for that stinker boy that I have that won't wat fruits and veggies. (you can pick which boy, Mike or Joseph! LOL!!)
