Update: Collin

I felt like this blog could use a little Buggy...

He loves peanut butter & jelly sandwiches and salads. He calls everyone "Bud", emphasis on the "uh". (Same goes for words like "blood".) He loves to play ninja/fighting games with Asher & usually ends up playing a little too rough. He still takes 3 hour naps when I let him. (Bless him!) He is incredibly sassy & stubborn, but is still a sweet, sensitive guy. He loves it when you wave at him from across a room- his response is to melt into smiles & wave excitedly back. He frustrates his teachers because he really doesn't get into coloring. We never have to coax Collin into morning scripture study- he is loving the story of Nephi & the plates. He NEEDS his sleep. He still sucks his thumb & is by far our best cuddler...he gently touches the back of your arm, usually putting Nate or I back to sleep. :)

This boy cracks us up constantly! He just finished his first official season of soccer. Nate and I actually had his eyes tested mid-season because we were concerned about his lack of interest in the game. Let's just say he could be found running on the field, holding hands with the coach's daughter, or jogging a few paces behind other players taking it all in.

Pics from his class field trip to the fire station. Collin is (most of the time) such a good, obedient kid. He and Asher both are getting so much better at that...we have a new chart/pom-pom system that seems to be helping.

Here are a couple of funny Collin-isms for you:

While driving, I was quizzing the boys on words/letters...
Me: Can you think of a word that starts with the letter N ?
Collin: Knee!
Me: Well, knee is kind of a crazy word because it actually begins with the letter K. The K is silent. Can you guess what letter the word 'psychology' starts with?
Collin & Asher: sssss, S!!
Me: It sounds like it should start with 'S', but psychology actually starts with the letter P.
Collin: Aw, come on!!!

Collin has been very interested in gender roles, family roles, etc. He is going through a stage where we prefers songs sung by boys, not girls. He often asks if an activity is for boys or girls & I usually have to explain that it's for both! When his preschool teacher asked him what he wants to be when he grows up, he said, "A Daddy!" A few times now he has come to me and told me that he and I are going to get married. When I tell him that I can't, I'm already married to Daddy whom I really love!, he gets really upset. At one point he even told me, "Nate doesn't love you anymore." :)

Collin has finally abandoned wanting me for his wife. He has moved onto Eden. For now, he usually addresses me as "Princess Leia". And I love it.

And don't even get me started on songs. (If it is sung by a girl, he usually isn't a fan.) I don't think I've been able to make it through a single song without calling yelling, "Why he say...?" Have you ever tried explaining the lyrics of "Disarm" to a 3-year-old? It's rough!

He talks about how he likes to eat different animals: cows, pigs, "deers", "elks", pheasants & then makes lip-smacking noises. He seems a tad confused on when and why people hunt. We were driving by Oquirrh Lake when I pointed out the hundreds of seagulls flying...
Me: Guys! Look at all the pretty birds!
Collin: Yeah! Daddy's gonna shoot them!

Oh boy.

Well, I'm not sure about Anonymous's comments - perhaps Collin should loose some weight. :>) Anyway, we love our "Buggy"!! He is indeed a very cool guy!! It's so fun watching them grow up learning about and discovering the world around them. Cortney, you and Nate are wonderful parents and in the thick of things raising a beautiful family. We love all of you. Love, Dad
