This poor little boy is sick. Can you tell? Sure, he has moments where he seems OK, but in general he's glassy-eyed and lethargic. He's been running a high temp and coughing 'til he cries. He is going into see the doctor today. I already know that they are gonna say to just keep him on tylenol/motrin for the fever and run a humidifier for his cough. It's annoying that that's "all they can do". They aren't the ones up at night holding a wheezy toddler.
It's good that we are going in today though, because I want them to check him out for another reason. In the morning, for about 2 hours after he wakes up, his arms, hands, legs, feet & lips are really purple. I thought maybe it was just a blood sugar thing since he had gone so long without eating or drinking anything...I don't know. The whole reason I am posting about this is because I was wondering if any of you have had this problem with your kids? Is this normal? Do they just grow out of it? I tried googling it & the results went from scary (heart problems, Type 1 Diabetes) to no biggies.
We're just anxious for our little Asher to feel better and get back to acting all crazy again. :)

So I hope it's not weird that I'm commenting. I don't know if you remember me, but my husband served in Rome with your husband and then I was in your family's ward in NH...anyway...
Has this blue thing been happening while he's had a fever? I am asking because we went through a similar thing with my 10-month-old last month. He turned blue - his lips, hands and feet - just before spiking a fever. So we went through a whole cardiology appointment, but everything showed up normal. What they decided it was was that his fever was spiking so the blood was rushing towards the heart instead of up to his and to his limbs, which I guess can be normal. My baby also turns blue when he cries really hard so maybe that's just his preferred color. Anyway, hope everything turns out okay.
My little girl is sick too and we're heading to the doctor today, too. Good luck.
Kaheirne will sometimes look blue around her mouth, but it's only for a short time and for no aparent reason - so that's no help :) I hope all is well, poor little guy
As a mom of a kid on oxygen, I would say blue is not good. However, as a person with TERRIBLE circulation, I turn blue when I'm cold. So, it would make sense to me that if he's getting chills with his fever, that may be why. But it's definitely a good idea to ask the doctor about it. Then, if you have to do a cardio apt., at least then you won't be worried. Also, if he's wheezy, they should do a breathing treatment and possibly send you home with albuterol or a nebulizer to help with the wheezing until it's gone.
Good luck!
I have no advice, sorry
I am sending well wishes for Asher and praying for him.
Yea, you can tell he's sick in that picture, he's missing the sparkle in his eyes.
poor little Asher! I hope he gets well really soon and then you guys can figure out the blue stuff.
