The day has finally come

For our Asher to go to Kindergarten. I cooked him a hot breakfast- he chose oatmeal- and made sure we did family scriptures & prayers. He got dressed in an outfit he chose himself (Asher wins!), brushed his teeth & went to put on his backpack...

We discovered that little Sethie decided to make his backpack cooler with some Sesame Street stickers. We had a good laugh about that one!

Asher was kind enough to let me take some pictures, but he requested that we limit it to just 1 picture. I bartered for 5 pictures...(Mommy wins!)

Look at that cool guy! Finally, it was time to load up in the car. My heart was pounding. Everyone else was cool as a cucumber, except Collin. He was sobbing because he wanted to go to Kindergarten too. He kept insisting that he WAS 5.

There goes my big boy! (And my other big boy.) And that was it. No looking back.

When Nate came back to the car, I made him tell me every detail. He said that Asher was running around, smiling on the playground. When it came time to line up, he was still smiling. Wishing I had thought to have Nate take some pictures of that.

This marks a new era for our family. We had a special "back-to-school" dinner for Family Home Evening on Monday. (Just in case you are wondering, we are on a year-round track system.) I chose this scripture for our theme:

Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing; and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God.
