my guys

I've been feeling sentimental lately. Worried that my boys are growing up too quickly and that I'm so busy juggling them, work and the day-to-day cleaning/errands/cooking that I won't remember much from this stage of their young lives. I find myself trying to memorize their faces as they are right now. Look into their bright eyes and feel the deep mother-child connection that lies in their depths. The past few days I've been jotting down a few notes about each of my boys. I hope you'll indulge me...we were due for an update anyhow!

Asher: Did you know that jeans are a torture device? Apparently they are because Asher hates wearing them. His commonly used catch phrases include: "Oh man!" and "That's weird." He requires kisses & band-aids for even the smallest of boo-boos. When I asked him what he wanted for Christmas, he told me he wanted "stairs & a slide & a guitar." Makes the coolest flying & car noises. I figured Asher would grow up to be an engineer of some sort since he enjoys deconstructing everything, including his food. Anyway, given his recent obsession with cameras (any kind- iphone, video, dslr) I think he'll do something with film...I love my Asher guy!

He and Collin fight over cars & enjoy watching old Mickey Mouse cartoons.

Collin: Wow, this kid has had a vocab explosion & talks ALL the time now. Common phrases for Collin include "No Way" or "No-K" & "My do it". Currently has a biting problem. He knows he is cute, and that sometimes makes him a bit impish. He derives much pleasure from taunting kids with a toy that he knows they want. He loves cars, his favorite is "Laughing" (Lightening). Collin loves Seth & is always wanting to hold him. He will get right up in Seth's face to talk or laugh with him. Collin is such a sweet, sensitive guy. Usually all you have to do is yell, "No no!" and he will burst into tears. Every night before he goes to bed, Nate or I do affirmations with him.  We tell him how smart, funny, cute, loving & good he is. We tell him how much we love him. He loves it- I wish you could see how his face lights up whenever we do this! (We do this with Asher too...Asher just looks bored & agrees with us after each statement!) He often stomps around singing the "T-Rex" song from Dinosaur Train. It's especially cute with his little lisp. Loves to have is hair "spiky". Unintentionally calls toothpaste "poop-paste".

Seth: He's HUGE! 13lbs at 2 months old, our biggest baby to date. Our poor little Sethie has a double ear infection. As soon as his pediatrician gives us the go-ahead for tubes, I'm all over it. Sadly, I'm predicting that this will be the first of many ear infections before that time comes. Since about 5 weeks old, Seth has been so smiley! He loves the ceiling fan, lights & people smiling at him. For over a week he has been sleeping a 7-8 hour stretch at night! YEA!!! Mommy is off dairy & chocolate & avoids excess sugar as those things seem to make our little guy fussy. That pretty much eliminated half my diet! Seth makes lots of  "oooo" "oh" and "ah-gee" gurgly noises. He nurses longer when I sing to him- "You are My Sunshine" and "Give Said the Little Stream" are our favorites.

Nate- Work. Reads and runs a lot.
Me- Kids. Work. Nursing our sick family back to health. Getting ready for Christmas! Trying to get back on some kind of a schedule.

I agree, they are so cute. It's crazy to see how much they are all changing. I love that you tell your boys how great they are every night before bed. What a great thing to go to bed thinking about and such a positive way to end the day.
